Be a volunteer ESL teacher in Sri Lanka

Monarch is looking for English speaking volunteers for our school in Sri Lanka to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) and to enrich our student’s overall education. We can offer you an unforgettable experience, staying with a local family in a small town and the chance to explore Sri Lanka on a budget when you are not with the students.
Our school not only focuses on language development, but we want to offer our students the chance to learn about different cultures, and even listen to different accents, so you don’t need to be a native English speaker to come and volunteer with us  We want our volunteers to broaden the horizons of the children, whether you’re teaching them your favorite playground songs (they’re surprisingly educational!) or learning about the history of your home country, our students will be there with open eyes and open minds.
  • Do you want to make a positive impact on society, improve the lives of those in developing countries and try and make a difference to the world?
  • Are you looking to travel in Sri Lanka in an affordable way, experience life in a local community and contribute to this wonderful country?
  • Will you seek out new challenges, expand your horizons, explore new cultures, and aim to have unforgettable experiences?
We are looking for volunteers from around the world who are fluent in English, to teach local students and help them build a bright and successful future
You should be a team player, have a creative mind, be willing to work hard and love getting practical experiences
We will provide you with free accommodation and food every day that you work with us, this includes three home-made Sri Lankan meals a day, snacks, tea, and coffee. You will stay with a local family in a house with all basic amenities, such as a washing machine, refrigerator etc. We have a maximum of three volunteers at a time, all sharing one room, and a bathroom used by them and the family at the home. During your days off you will be able to explore the beauty of Sri Lanka, at your own expense.
  • A once in a lifetime experience, supporting lovely children and adults in their English language education and helping them create a brighter future
  • The chance to experience the real Sri Lankan lifestyle and culture, living with a local family and sharing your working day with our students, as well as learning from your fellow volunteers
  • New friendships that will stay with you forever
  • Opportunities to travel around Sri Lanka, a luscious tropical island with plenty to discover, whilst being able to maintain a tight budget
  • Practical experience of teaching for Education and Tourism students and professionals, and the opportunity to use our Institute for an internship
  • You will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), you can apply your visa here  You will get an approval email once you have successfully submitted your application
  • The application should be for a tourist visa, for business purposes. Initially, you will receive a 30-day visa which can then be extended for a further two months if you wish
